      The community of Albany, Georgia is mourning the loss of David Mullins, a high school football player who tragically died following a car accident early Monday morning in south Georgia. Mullins, a resident of Albany, sustained fatal injuries in the accident, which occurred around 2 a.m. in Terrell County.

      According to reports, the accident happened when a Ford F-150 was traveling south on Bobby Locke Road. The vehicle veered off the highway, struck a culvert, and became airborne. Afterward, the truck collided with a guy wire, and Vansh Patel, the truck’s passenger, was ejected from the vehicle. The truck ultimately struck a tree, resulting in the driver, David Mullins, being pronounced dead at the scene.

      Mullins was a beloved member of the Deerfield-Windsor High School varsity football team, where he played as a lineman and defensive tackle. Just a day before the tragic accident, Mullins had graduated from the private school in Albany. His sudden passing has left his family, friends, and the school community in deep shock and grief.

      Head Football Coach Brian McCrae expressed his sorrow and paid tribute to Mullins by posting a picture of him in uniform on Facebook. McCrae wrote, “Last night we lost our big guy. Our rock. The Lord took David Mullins from us last night and none of us are ready to let him go.” His heartfelt message highlights the profound impact Mullins had on his team and the sense of loss felt by those who knew him.

      Vansh Patel, who was with Mullins during the accident, was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta. The current status of Patel’s health remains undisclosed. The community is also extending their prayers and support to Patel and his family during this challenging time.
