      Beloved Daughter and Student, Maya Anopolsky, Passes Away at 21

      The community is mourning the loss of Maya Anopolsky, a cherished young woman from Bethesda, Maryland. Maya Rae Anopolsky, the beloved daughter of Jennifer and Sanford Anopolsky, passed away on May 28, 2024, in Rockville, Maryland, at the age of 21. The cause of her death has not been disclosed at this time.

      Maya was a ray of sunshine to everyone who knew her. Born in Los Angeles, she spent her formative years in Bethesda and attended the prestigious Holton-Arms School. At the time of her passing, she was a student at Washington University in St. Louis. Maya’s life was filled with passion and appreciation for the simple, beautiful things in life. She loved traveling, music, art, poetry, and animals, and she had a special fondness for plants and flowers, tending a garden with her mother that will continue to bloom in her memory.

      Maya was not only a beloved daughter but also a treasured sister to Robert and Max Anopolsky, and a cherished granddaughter of Minda Shein and Martin Anopolsky. Her joyful spirit and zest for life left an indelible mark on her family and friends, spreading from coast to coast.

      Maya’s extended family included dear aunts and uncles Abby and Lee Alford, Katie and Drew Behr, Beth and James Greenberg, and Ali and Dan Quill, as well as cousins Madeleine and Jackie Alford, Andrew and Harper Behr, Emily and Jonathan Greenberg, and Sam and Jacob Quill. Each of them has special memories of Maya’s bright personality and infectious enthusiasm.

      Maya’s passing has left a void in the lives of those who knew her, but her legacy of love, joy, and appreciation for life’s beauty will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her. Funeral services will be held on May 31, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at Congregation Beth El, where family and friends will gather to honor her memory and celebrate her life.

      The Anopolsky family has asked for privacy during this difficult time as they grieve the loss of their beloved Maya. They express their heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of love and support from the community.
