The Holland community is reeling from the shocking news of Miguel Zamudio’s injury in a tragic shooting incident on Saturday afternoon. According to Captain Robert Buursma of the Holland Department of Public Safety, the incident occurred on West 19th Street in the 300 block.

Reports indicate that Miguel, a 41-year-old resident of Holland, was shot in the head by a 27-year-old male from the same area. The perpetrator approached Miguel and discharged a firearm, causing severe injury. Miguel was swiftly transported to a medical facility in Holland and later transferred to a hospital in Grand Rapids, where he remains in serious condition.

Authorities have confirmed the apprehension of the suspect, who is currently under their control. However, the investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working to determine any possible connection between the suspect and the victim, as well as the motive behind the shooting.

In a concerning turn of events, the suspect informed police of a potential explosive device in the residence. While initial skepticism was expressed by Captain Buursma, authorities took precautionary measures to ensure the safety of the community. An evacuation order was issued for residents living near the house and within a 500-foot buffer zone. The ATF was called in to assess the situation, ultimately confirming that no explosive device was present.

In the wake of this tragedy, the Zamudio family has created a GoFundMe page to support Miguel’s medical expenses and provide assistance during this difficult time. They emphasize the unexpected nature of the incident and the need for prayers and love from friends and family. Contributions to the GoFundMe campaign are welcomed as the family navigates through this challenging period.

As the Holland community comes together to support Miguel Zamudio and his family, thoughts and prayers are extended for his swift recovery. May justice be served, and may Miguel’s loved ones find strength and solace in the outpouring of support from the community.
